There are three main types of glue that are commonly used in packing tapes: acrylic glue, hot-melt glue, and solvent glue. Each type has its own unique properties and is suitable for different applications.
Acrylic glue is a type of water-based glue that is made from acrylic polymer. It is known for its strong bonding capabilities and versatility, making it a popular choice for many different types of packaging applications. One of the benefits of acrylic glue is that it is non-toxic and safe to use, making it a good option for food packaging. It is also resistant to water and can withstand high temperatures, making it ideal for outdoor use. However, it can be sensitive to UV light and may become brittle over time when exposed to direct sunlight.
Hot-melt glue is characterized by good adhesive properties. These are tapes designed for gluing cartons or foil. These tapes perform best at temperatures above 5 degrees Celsius. These tapes are best suited for medium weight packages and cartons. Thanks to the use of rubber and natural solvents, printed adhesive tapes are characterized by high tensile strength. They can be glued to any type of surface.
Solvent glue is characterized by the best adhesive properties. These are tapes intended for gluing both at high and low (minus) temperatures – e.g. for use in cold stores. Natural rubber packing tapes are also moisture resistant. A characteristic feature of such printed tapes is their high strength. They are impregnated with permanent adhesives, so they are ideal for packaging and labeling parcels, shipments and cartons during transport and removals. The use of natural rubber makes the printed tapes resistant to moisture and extreme temperatures.
